A Nanking ginger jar from the first half of the 20th century is an interesting collector's item. Nanking, or Nanjing, is known for its rich history in ceramic production, especially in the Qing Dynasty. Ginger jars were often used for preserving ginger in sweet syrups and other spices.
The markings on the bottom can tell a lot about the origin and age of the pot. Often there are specific marks or a seal that indicates by which manufacturer or artist the pot was made.
