The wood carving of the Buddhist goddess Guan Yin in China and Kannon in Japan shows Guan Yin, the goddess of mercy and compassion, who manifests herself wherever beings need help. The wooden statue is carved from hard, reddish-brown wood and Guan Yin stands in an elegant pose.
